Gearing up for Spring

I have not blogged in a VERY long time... Since the last time i posted something, i have had a beautiful healthy little man that we named Tyson James. He was born 8-13-2009... Alexis is in preschool . She is doing great... Tyson loves his new babysitter, daddy started a new company, and i have a new title... SO it has been CRAZY for the past year, but it has been great.. Right now we are gearing up for Spring and then the start of the birthday planning.. Alexis will be celebrating her 5th birthday with Strawberry Shortcake, and Tyson will be celebrating his 2nd with CARS. I am very excited to get the planning underway. Alexis is getting so big that she has her own ideas. We will be having the partys at the Fun Factory in Clarksburg so the kids can run and have a good time. I am working on getting our online photo album put together so i can add it to the site.. .. Happy Spring...

Alexis 3rd Birthday and babies....

It has been a while since i have blogged but i wanted to share with everyone what has been going on.

Right now i am busy trying to pull together Alexis's 3rd birthday planning which is really hard when all i want to do is sleep. The theme is SPONGEBOB of course. I only have a few more things to get and then everything will be ready except for DECORATING the day off. It is hard to believe my little girl will be 3 in only 5 days. She has grown up so fast. We have accomplished a lot during this past year.
Her vocabulary is amazing..She speaks like a grown up using long words...
BYE BYE DIAPERS...
SHE NOW WEIGHS 33.5 POUNDS
There has been so much to even name. Our biggest was the diapers. She was not hard at all to potty train. Once she got it in her head that she wanted to be a big girl, she took right off. We are still working on a few things like getting her to sleep in her own bed. This i think is going to be the hardest of all....Then with everything going on with Alexis, we have little man growing like a week.

We are 32 weeks pregnant. Only 8 weeks to go...We are still trying to prepare for him. There is so much that we still have to get before he is even born. I just cant imagine life when he comes. It is hectic now. With working full time, mommy full time, and of course a wife fulltime. I quess that is why i am always so tired. Lately i have been doing better. Today we went for our 3d ultrasound of the baby's heart. It went great. The doctor come in and talked to us about all the pictures they had taken. she explained exactly what we were looking at and what they were looking for. She made it very clear that she thinks everything is looking good. So that was a relief.

Well until next time, wish me luck...I will post pics of the birthday this sunday....I am so excited yet so sad....

24 Weeks down. 16 To GO

Just an update on the pregnancy. Of course we have announced we are having a little boy. The name we have decided on is Gavin James. For the past couple of days i have been having contractions so i went to the doctor yesterday morning for a checkup. I seen my actual doctor instead of a midwife and she said we were measuring just a tad over 24 weeks. The baby's heartbeat was 155 and mommy has gained a total of 9 pounds since the last doctors appt. I was really concerned about the contractions i have been having so i had asked questions and she wasnt afraid to give me any answers. She did say that she thinks that maybe it is b/c where i have had a previous C-Section that my uterus is expanded so fast that it COULD be the cause, but it is really hard to tell. She said just to count them and if i have more than 6 in any hour to take an hour of bedrest and then see if they stop. So today i stayed home from work b/c i have been having horrible back and hip pain. SInce this morning i have only have 3 contractions. So i hope this bedrest has helped. But i have also had swelling in my hands and feet. I never went through this with Alexis so it is all new. Dr. Farry said she could see my hands were swollen yesterday but since my blood pressure was fine, she wasnt to worried yet. So read below for the baby update..

Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.

See what your baby looks like this week. (Or see what fraternal twins look like in the womb this week.)

Note: Every baby develops a little differently — even in the womb. Our information is designed to give you a general idea of your baby's development.

How your life's changing:

In the past few weeks, the top of your uterus has risen above your belly button and is now about the size of a soccer ball.

Most women have a glucose screening test (also called a glucose challenge test or GCT) between now and 28 weeks. This test checks for gestational diabetes, a pregnancy-related high-blood-sugar condition. Untreated diabetes increases your risk of having a difficult vaginal delivery or needing a cesarean section because it causes your baby to grow too large, especially in his upper body. It also raises your baby's odds for other complications like low blood sugar right after birth. A positive result on your GCT doesn't mean you have gestational diabetes, but it does mean that you'll need to take the glucose tolerance test (GTT) to find out for sure.

Finally, if you don't already know how to spot the signs of preterm labor, now's the time to learn. Contact your caregiver immediately if you notice any of the signs mentioned below.

ITS A BOY.....

Monday we had our 20 week ultrasound. We were so excited to see the baby once again. And to also hopefully find out if we had a little boy or girl growing in my belly. Alexis was really anxious. Although i am not sure if she really understands the boy girl thing, she is just excited b/c she will have a sibling. So when we arrived at Dr. Farry's office, we walked in to a full house. There were no seats in the waiting room. It was so busy. But Alexis didn't act up, she was great. Our ultrasound was at 11am. We had my mom, and Jimmys' mom and dad there to celebrate the excitement with us. Once we went back to the ultrasound room, it was just so amazing to see how big our baby had gotten over the 10 weeks since we had seen him last. He was so squirmy the entire time. But Sara the ultrasound tech did an amazing job. She had to go back and get a few measurments, but she got him to cooperate long enough to see THE MANHOOD... Once she got the little peebug area on the screen she said "Well, i dont think i need to explain what this is, but as you can tell, it is a little BOY...We all started YEAHING, and of course i cried...I was just so excited that god has blessed me and Jimmy with a beautiful healthly little girl, and now a little boy...I am attaching the 10 week 6 day ultrasound pictures. I hope you all are as excited as we are. Daddy has already picked a name, the bedding, boxing cloves. It is just so amazing.

18 Weeks

Head to rump, your baby is about 5 1/2 inches long (about the length of a bell pepper) and he weighs almost 7 ounces. He's busy flexing his arms and legs — movements that you'll start noticing more and more in the weeks ahead. His blood vessels are visible through his thin skin, and his ears are now in their final position, although they're still standing out from his head a bit. A protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around his nerves, a process that will continue for a year after he's born. If you're having a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If you're having a boy, his genitals are noticeable now, but he may hide them from you during an ultrasound.
Don't be too shocked but... your baby is EVEN bigger than it was last week, not to mention getting cuter, and smarter every day! As you’ve come to expect, there’s no shortage of growth and development this week: your fantastic little bean stalk has added yet another half inch to their overall height-- making them nearly half a foot long! Their little limbs have reached (or are within one week of) their relative proportions, and will continue to grow evenly with the rest of the body after this week. Reactive listening has begun for your baby, even though their ears are not yet structurally complete or fully functional. Meanwhile, different parts of their astonishingly complex brain are developing to process your little one’s hearing and other senses, (you know, sight, smell, taste and touch). Mind boggling factoid of the week: if you’re having going to have a little girl, her ovaries have already produced millions of primordial egg cells, which, within a few weeks, will develop into actual eggs!

And how's mom doing? Even though the second trimester is often characterized as the most enjoyable of the three, you can count on a few ailments (see week 14 for additional tri-2 symptoms). This week, or in the coming weeks, you may be privy to the uncommon joys of “round ligament pain.” These not-so-lovely symptoms can doctors advise sleeping on your left side as lying on your back can compress your pelvic veins, decreasing blood return to the lower half of your body include bellyaches, pain in the lower abdomen and sharp shooting and/or stabbing pains, most often expressed at the end of the day. Your suffering is due to stretched ligaments and muscles that support your ever-growing uterus. This is to be expected and is perfectly normal (especially since your uterus is only getting bigger!). Some doctors advise sleeping on your left side as lying on your back can compress your pelvic veins, decreasing blood return to the lower half of your body. Lying on your left side relieves this pressure thereby allowing normal blood flow. If this doesn’t do the trick, go ahead and consult your health care practitioner, but try not to punch them when they serenely tell you it’s normal to feel stabbing pain during this time. As we all know, violence never solves anything.

17 Weeks. ALmost Half Way there...

17 weeks down. I only have 161 days till i make my grand entrance.

March 23 is the big day. We go to the doctor for the ULTRASOUND. Hopefully we will be able to tell if we are having a Gavin or not sure of the girl yet...I will absolutely be posting as soon as we find out...

How your baby's growing:

Your baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — her lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. Your baby weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip), and she's around 5 inches long from head to bottom. She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop.
tarting to feel a bit off balance? As your belly grows, your center of gravity changes, so you may begin to occasionally feel a little unsteady on your feet. Try to avoid situations with a high risk of falling. Wear low-heeled shoes to reduce your risk of taking a tumble; trauma to your abdomen could be dangerous for you and your baby. You'll also want to be sure to buckle up when you're in a car — keep the lap portion of the seat belt under your belly, drawn snugly across your hips, and also use the shoulder harness, which should fit snugly between your breasts.

You may also notice your eyes becoming drier. Using over-the-counter lubricating drops may help. If your contact lenses become uncomfortable, try wearing them for shorter stretches of time. If you still have discomfort, switch to glasses until after you give birth.

Phew… just wait till she’s a teenager eh?

Week 16

Week 16: Time for ye olde ultrasounde

Fetal development in pregnancy week 16:fetus in fourth month Over the past three weeks your astounding growing baby has managed to stretch yet another 2 full inches (totaling about 4.5 inches) and weighs around 3.5 ounces. Yessireee, that’s some pretty serious growth... and with it comes several physical developments! For starters, their head to body ratio is finally starting to even out a bit as the rest of the body is actually growing faster than the head at this point. Yes, your little light bulb is not so top-heavy. Their adorable little limbs have lengthened, almost reaching their normal proportions which they will have at birth. Their eyes are still closed but moving and if you had an ultrasound, which many doctors recommend you have at about this time, you may even see your little one sucking on a thumb, not to mention the necessary signifiers to let you know whether you’ve got a wee lad or lassie.

And how's mom doing? Along with an ultrasound, many practitioners recommend administering the “Multiple Marker Test (MMT)”, which is also known as the “Triple Screen Test”. This very common procedure checks your blood (not your baby’s) for specific protein and hormone levels as well as informing you about any potential Before you start breathing in that strained fearful way or furrowing your brow in concern, you should know that even if you do get a positive test this hardly means your little trooper is in trouble. Only about 3 to 5 percent of women yield positive results risks of genetic or birth defects. Before you start breathing in that strained fearful way or furrowing your brow in concern, you should know that even if you do get a positive test this hardly means your little trooper is in trouble. Only about 3 to 5 percent of women yield positive results and of those women, only 10 percent actually have any sort of complication to report. Obviously, a positive test from the MMT will mean further testing for you, including amniocentesis and more ultrasounds. Although this test sounds like a bit of a dud with the high percentage of false positives coming back, it's popular because it has and can effectively identify a majority of all neural tube defects as well as babies with Down Syndrome. So despite its obvious drawbacks, you’ll still want to arrange to take the test to better prepare you and your family for the fact that anything is possible.

Alexis is doing great with the potty training. We have went a full week now in big girl panties 24 hours a day and no accidents. We are very proud of her. She has grown up so fast and is such a wonderful person already.

Until Next week: Enjoy...
